Established over 130 years ago in 1893, Zion Lutheran Church opened its doors to the Tampa Heights community. Guiding its community through both world wars, the church would stand to be a testament to God's providence.
Over time the church faced many challenges, including the covid-19 pandemic in 2020. After the pandemic, the church was met with a dwindling congregation.
In the fall of 2022, Redeemer City Church relocated to Zion Lutheran on the corner of North Highlands and Warren Street in the historic Tampa Heights district.
The Neoclassicism architecture of the space created some unique challenges. The large plaster walls and hard-lid ceilings introduced significant acoustic issues with the church's existing sound system. As a registered historic building, many traditional rigging and acoustic methods could not be used. We could place the acoustic treatment where it is most needed using acoustical simulations. With the use of hybrid diffusion panels and fiberglass absorption panels, we were able to provide the church with a cost-effective acoustic solution.
Redeemer City Church was planted in early 2016 in the downtown/Tampa Heights area. But our plan was never about starting another church. It’s always been about JESUS and bringing the Kingdom of God to earth just as it is in heaven.
You’ll find people here from all different walks of life. We’re in a passionate pursuit to bridge the gap between ages, socio-economic statuses, and races. We desire to foster a community that in a small way depicts heaven and is composed of believers from every tribe, nation, and tongue who are being gripped by grace.
As our church family grows, we ask ourselves, “If the Kingdom of God was in the center of Tampa, what would this city look like?” Tampa would be a redeemed city. And so we are Redeemer City Church. Here to influence the beautiful melting pot of Tampa with the life-changing message of the gospel.
